The Best Choices Books Part 3
Hello everyone! As many of you know, I'm a big fan of the Choices app which has a collection of "choose your own" stories. I've made two previous lists of my favorites which was mainly of the backlog of books I've read over the years. This included everything from the cute rom-com Baby Bump to the horror-esque It Lives Anthology. They have such a diverse range of genres so there's something for everyone. I usually find romance novels to be my favorites but I've been branching out recently.
A few months ago, Choices released a monthly VIP subscription which gives you extra in-game diamonds, unlimited chapters, and access to exclusive premium books. I decided to join since I love the app so much and I've been really enjoying it. It's a little pricey at about $16 a month BUT the app is my favorite and I'm all about supporting these kinds of things if I can. And that means I now have a few new favorites from the VIP books that I want to share with you guys.
Description: Travel back to the year 1913 as the daughter of an American, new money family. When you receive sudden news of your older sister's passing, you're whisked away to England to take her place in marriage. Will forbidden love catch you unawares... and will you be able to unravel the mystery of your sister's death?
Genres: Mystery, Romance
The Unexpected Heiress was the first book I read as a premium member. It really solidified the fact that I wanted to keep my VIP subscription as I was just beginning to try out the new library of books. It is a historical fiction mystery with hints of romance, though it's not the main focus. The book reminded me a lot of the app's previous book Desire & Decorum in terms of the historical setting and general vibe. If you enjoyed that one I can almost guarantee you'll enjoy The Unexpected Heiress.
I really loved diving into the mystery of The Unexpected Heiress which starts to unravel from the very first scene. I did enjoy the diamond scenes a lot but I think you get the most bang for your buck when you choose a clue scene with your chosen love interest. It's basically two for one at that point. I also highly recommend the ending bonus scene if you want that nice tied up in a bow ending.
Description: You're a bartender in New York City with a talent for turning lonely hearts into happy couples. Tonight, is it finally your turn to find romance?
Ms. Match is such a unique book for Choices, even as it's only halfway released. While it does share some characteristics of the usual app rom-com, it also feels its own with a steamier romance and an almost ridiculous competition. It's not really a realistic book so if you're all about the seriously realistic I won't recommend this BUT if you just want a fun romance book to add to your list then this one is the way to go for sure.
I love the diamond scenes in Ms. Match. They're fun and seductive as you play along to the matchmaking theme of the book. Like I've said before, for romance books on the app you usually have to spend diamonds to get a good experience - for better or worse. I think though if you buy a diamond scene a chapter or a little less than you can get the full experience without compromise.
Description: Drawn by dreams to your mother's childhood home, you find an unexpected connection with a dangerous and mysterious man.
Genres: Paranormal Romance
Wolf Bride actually just came out a few days ago and I've only read the first chapter BUT I'm preemptively deciding I love this one. So far it is well worth the seemingly endless wait I had leading up to it. I love the app's paranormal romance books so when I heard there was going to be one for VIP I freaked out. I mean, how can you go wrong with romance plus werewolves? The answer: you can't.
The book is actually set in my home state of West Virginia which surprised me immensely because, let's be real, nobody cares about WV. From that revelation onward, the story picks up quickly. The first chapter has me hooked and I definitely would have binged the second chapter already if Christmas hadn't made everything so hectic. I simply haven't had time to just sit down and relax to get through it but I plan to at the first opportunity.
