Fairyloot February 2020 RuleBreakers Box

*Spoilers for February 2020 Rulebreakers Fairyloot Box

Photo of the fairyloot box to proceed more spoilers pictures.

Fairyloot's February 2020 was my first box from them as a subscriber. I loved the one-time purchase I received the previous October so I knew when I had the chance I wanted to subscribe. I awaited this box knowing from the description alone that the characters would be morally grey and the story decadent.

The theme for February was Rulebreakers and featured a "Slytherin Romance". The stunning theme art by @taratjah on Instagram was displayed everywhere and it was nothing short of breathtaking. Fandoms hinted at were Serpent & Dove, Sorcery of Thorns, Wicked Saints, The Lord of The Rings, and Nevernight.

Item 1: Serpent & Dove Ceramic Mug

Serpent and Dove ceramic mug featuring art of Lou and Reid From The Fairyloot February 2020 Rulerbreakers box

The Serpent and Dove Ceramic Mug was one of the few item reveals they made. It features artwork inspired by the series created by @merwildandco on Instagram. The item arrived nice and snug in its own box with plenty of padding to make sure it delivered securely. And even as someone who hadn't read this book when I received the box, it was so well done. The artwork was fantastic and the ceramic mug itself felt nice and sturdy unlike some cheaper alternatives I've received in other boxes.

We Hunt The Flame Art Print From The Fairyloot February 2020 Rulerbreakers box

Item 2: We Hunt The Flame Art Print

I honestly forgot there was meant to be a We Hunt The Flame item until I read the spoiler card. I always love seeing items inspired by this book as I enjoy following the author on social media - their twitter is amazing for the record. The art print is designed by @noverantale, a regular contributor to Fairyloot boxes. It may seem like a small item for this fandom but the art is so well done and high quality it doesn't feel insignificant even in comparison to the other amazing bookish goodies in the box.

Item 3: Malachiasz Bookish Lip Balm

The bookish Malachiasz lip balm was a perfect item for the late winter months. It was made by Little Heart Gifts, no Instagram handle attached. The lip balm is based on the incredibly popular book Wicked Saints by Emily A Duncan. It smells of strawberry prosecco which I was

admittedly a little skeptical about because I was imagining horrendously strong and sickly sweet strawberry. Thankfully it is such an amazing scent in person - it may be one of my new favorite lip balms beside the one I got in a Bae Crate box.

Item(s) 4: Nevernight Foil Bookmarks and Sticker

In the box, three smaller more paper items were inspired by Nevernight by Jay Kristoff and designed by @noverantale. I always love a good bookmark and these specifically are so stunning. They just stand out from any others I've received due to the unique foiling. The sticker, not featured because I already put it on my laptop, is also a very good sized one with the quote, "Too few centuries. Too many books." I found this item to be an awesome addition that is currently stuck in pride of place on the front of my laptop.

The blackened gold foiled scarf from the Fairyloot February 2020 Rulerbreakers box

Item 5: Foiled Scarf

The foiled scarf included in the February box is such a beautiful and useful item. It is something that can be incorporated into everyday life with subtle bookish nods to Sorcery of Thorns, a past book choice for Fairyloot. The design shows a cat, stacks of books, and thorns all in honor of the mentioned book. The foiled scarf in all its shiny glory was designed by @taratjah. I definitely enjoy this item as someone who is always looking for bookish wearables.

Lord OfThe Rings Luggage Tag from the Fairyloot February 2020 Rulerbreakers box

Item 6: Mordor Luggage Tag

This Mordor luggage tag has an awesome 3D design that stands out in itself. It's LOTR inspired which is such a beloved fandom anyways. No doubt many fans of the series will be thrilled with the quality of this item. The design was created by @bookmarkd.tattoos and @loveyoumorestudio.

Item 5: The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller

The book included in the February 2020 Rulerbreakers box, The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller

This month's book was The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller. It has been described by fairyloot and even the author in the author's letter attached to be a Slytherin romance. The Fairyloot copy has an exclusive cover change from the original red to a deep purple. There is embossing on the naked cover and spine. It also includes artwork on the reverse dust jacket by @vagueenthusiast.art along with being signed by the author. It even came with an additional art print by @myvalenstyles.

Book Description: Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power: 1) Woo the Shadow King. 2) Marry him. 3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself. No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it. But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen—all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?

Full unboxing of the Fairyloot February 2020 Rulerbreakers box displaying every item.

In conclusion, the Fairyloot February 2020 Rulebreakers box had everything you could ask for - a book, mug, amazing art, and so many other goodies. The fandoms and items were spot on and incomparably high quality. There was no inclusion that felt like it didn't live up to the others because they were all great choices that will come in handy along with being top-notch bookish decor.

I would definitely give this box an A+. I expect this rating is common for Fairyloot and so far I've yet to be disappointed by any box I've received from them. Here's to more amazing months to come as the newest member of the Fairyloot community.
