Book Characters As Folklore/Evermore Lyrics

Hello everyone! With all of the exciting things going on involving Taylor Swift, from new albums to rerecordings to award nominations, I thought it was time to bring back my book characters as folklore/evermore lyrics. I love doing these kinds of posts because it allows my two great loves of books and TS to converge. Today, I'll be using characters from Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston, Turtles All The Way Down by John Green, and After by Anna Todd featuring songs like illicit affairs and coney island.
(Fun fact, illicit affairs has been my favorite from folklore since the first time I listened to it so I was excited to be able to use it this time around.)

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

Red, White & Royal Blue Description: First Son Alex Claremont-Diaz is the closest thing to a prince this side of the Atlantic. With his intrepid sister and the Veep’s genius granddaughter, they’re the White House Trio, a beautiful millennial marketing strategy for his mother, President Ellen Claremont. International socialite duties do have downsides—namely, when photos of a confrontation with his longtime nemesis Prince Henry at a royal wedding leak to the tabloids and threaten American/British relations. The plan for damage control: staging a fake friendship between the First Son and the Prince.
As President Claremont kicks off her reelection bid, Alex finds himself hurtling into a secret relationship with Henry that could derail the campaign and upend two nations. What is worth the sacrifice? How do you do all the good you can do? And, most importantly, how will history remember you?
Henry: I'm a mirrorball // I can change everything about me to fit in // You are not like the regulars // The masquerade revelers // Drunk as they watch my shattered edges glisten - mirrorball, folklore
Alex: How'd we get here so soon? // Did I close my fist around something delicate? // Did I shatter you? - coney Island, evermore
June: The stars in your eyes // Shined brighter in Tupelo // And if you're ever tired of being known // For who you know // You know, you'll always know me - dorothea, evermore

Turtles All The Way Down by John Green

Turtles All The Way Down Description: It all begins with a fugitive billionaire and the promise of a cash reward. Turtles All the Way Down is about lifelong friendship, the intimacy of an unexpected reunion, Star Wars fan fiction, and tuatara. But at its heart is Aza Holmes, a young woman navigating daily existence within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.
In his long-awaited return, John Green shares Aza's story with shattering, unflinching clarity.
Aza: They told me all of my cages were mental // So I got wasted like all my potential // And my words shoot to kill when I'm mad // I have a lot of regrets about that - this is me trying, folklore
Daisy: But I can see us lost in the memory // August slipped away into a moment in time // 'Cause it was never mine - august, folklore

After by Anna Todd

After Description: Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She’s got direction, ambition, and a mother who’s intent on keeping her that way.
But she’s barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin. With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, tattoos, and lip ring, Hardin is cute and different from what she’s used to.
But he’s also rude—to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin. And she does—until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before.
He’ll call her beautiful, then insist he isn't the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper.
Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend. So why is she trying so hard to overcome her own hurt pride and Hardin’s prejudice about nice girls like her?
Unless…could this be love?
Now newly revised and expanded, Anna Todd’s After fanfiction racked up 1 billion reads online and captivated readers across the globe. Experience the Internet’s most talked-about book for yourself!
There was the time before Tessa met Hardin, and then there’s everything AFTER... Life will never be the same.
Tessa: And you wanna scream // Don't call me kid // Don't call me baby // Look at this godforsaken mess that you made me // You showed me colors you know // I can't see with anyone else - illicit affairs, folklore
Hardin: Don't treat me like some situation that needs to be handled // I'm fine with my spite // And my tears // And my beers and my candles - closure, evermore
