Book Characters As Folklore/Evermore Lyrics
Hello everyone! As many of you know, aside from books, I've always had an appreciation for Taylor Swift. She's really the only music artist I'm super obsessed with and most of my family and friends will vouch for that fact. Any chance I get, I'll incorporate a Taylor Swift reference into my book blog. I've done a book tag for every one of her albums and with her most recent ones, folklore and evermore, I decided I wanted to do something extra for their releases. In this blog post, I'll be doing book characters are folklore/evermore lyrics. Enjoy.

Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin
Serpent & Dove Description: Bound as one to love, honor, or burn.

Two years ago, Louise le Blanc fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine, forsaking all magic and living off whatever she could steal. There, witches like Lou are hunted. They are feared. And they are burned.
Sworn to the Church as a Chasseur, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle: thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. His path was never meant to cross with Lou's, but a wicked stunt forces them into an impossible union—holy matrimony.
The war between witches and Church is an ancient one, and Lou's most dangerous enemies bring a fate worse than fire. Unable to ignore her growing feelings, yet powerless to change what she is, a choice must be made.
And love makes fools of us all.
Lou Le Blanc: And it's just around the corner, darling // 'Cause it lives in me // No, I could never give you peace - peace, folklore
Reid Diggory: Oh, goddamn // My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand // Taking mine, but it's been promised to another - ivy, evermore
Coco: Please, picture me in the weeds // Before I learned civility // I used to scream ferociously // Any time I wanted - seven, folklore
Beau: I've got some tricks up my sleeve // Takes one to know one // You're a cowboy like me - cowboy like me, evermore

The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller
The Shadows Between Us Description: Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power:

1) Woo the Shadow King.
2) Marry him.
3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself.
No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it.
But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen—all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?
Alessandra: What did you think I'd say to that? // Does a scorpion sting when fighting back? // They strike to kill, and you know I will - mad woman, folklore
Kallias: Past the blood and bruise // Past the curses and cries // Beyond the terror in the nightfall // Haunted by the look in my eyes // That would've loved you for a lifetime - happiness, evermore

We Hunt The Flame by Hafsah Faizal
We Hunt The Flame Description: People lived because she killed. People died because he lived.

Zafira is the Hunter, disguising herself as a man when she braves the cursed forest of the Arz to feed her people. Nasir is the Prince of Death, assassinating those foolish enough to defy his autocratic father, the sultan. If Zafira was exposed as a girl, all of her achievements would be rejected; if Nasir displayed his compassion, his father would punish him in the most brutal of ways. Both Zafira and Nasir are legends in the kingdom of Arawiya--but neither wants to be.
War is brewing, and the Arz sweeps closer with each passing day, engulfing the land in shadow. When Zafira embarks on a quest to uncover a lost artifact that can restore magic to her suffering world and stop the Arz, Nasir is sent by the sultan on a similar mission: retrieve the artifact and kill the Hunter. But an ancient evil stirs as their journey unfolds--and the prize they seek may pose a threat greater than either can imagine.
Zafira: Never be so polite, you forget your power // Never wield such power, you forget to be polite - marjorie, evermore
Nasir: My only one // My kingdom come undone // My broken drum // You have beaten my heart - hoax, folklore
