You Will Be Mine Review

Title: You Will Be Mine

Genre: Young Adult/Mystery

Rating: ★★★ (3/5)

The book You Will Be Mine written by Wattpad star Natasha Preston, also known for her story The Cellar, is a story I have been wanting to get my hands on for a while. The story is that of a college student named Lylah who hates Valentine's Day and her friends who end up the target of a stalker on said holiday.

The book starts with a bang by featuring an eery note addressed to the protagonist and builds from there. The author has mastered the art of writing in the style of lighthearted teen fiction while the story itself manages to carry out a sinister undertone. The notes keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next one to arrive. The small details manage to connect for an expertly interwoven web that adds to the thrill and leaves you doing mental calculations as to who could possibly be behind everything. Lylah is a main character you can root for even if there are a few moments when she goes against the archetype the author has created in order to presumably advance the plot. The pace feels a bit fast at times but this is a common struggle for thriller/mystery writers that certainly isn't exclusive to this one author. The ending provides enough shock and amazement to justify the whole 281 pages leading up to it. And everything is finished off nicely with an epilogue that ties up most if not all the loose ends a reader could have.
